While LA’s iconic palm trees and sunshine are here to stay, the city is buzzing with innovative hotels, immersive art exhibits, culinary delights, and more.
With the 2028 Summer Olympics on the horizon, LA is building momentum as a global sports and entertainment hub, further highlighted by the recent torch-passing from Paris to Los Angeles, an event Hollywood brought to life with Tom Cruise and Mayor Karen Bass. Here’s a rundown of what awaits this season in The City of Angels.
New Hotels in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has expanded its range of accommodations, offering everything from luxury beachfront properties to chic urban boutique hotels. Here are some exciting options:
W Hotel Hollywood: Reopened after a transformative renovation, the W Hollywood sets a new standard for luxury. With 319 rooms, including 39 suites, the hotel blends Hollywood’s glitz with contemporary design. Regent Santa Monica: Formerly the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, this property now falls under InterContinental’s Regent Hotels & Resorts luxury brand. With 143 guest rooms, 24 suites, a spa, and a beachside pool deck, it’s the ideal spot to experience Santa Monica’s relaxed yet sophisticated vibe.

LA’s culinary scene continues to thrive, with new restaurants opening across the city:
Hello Kitty Cafe: This charming spot at Universal CityWalk brings whimsical Hello Kitty-themed treats and drinks to LA, along with collectible merchandise at the Sanrio Smile Shop.
Companion (Venice): Open for breakfast and dinner, Companion offers coffee, pastries, and inventive dishes that range from Caesar salads to wagyu steaks, providing a delightful balance of flavors.

Starting January 24, Winter Dine LA will showcase LA’s culinary scene with exclusive dining deals across the city. Foodies can look forward to trying dishes at Michelin-rated restaurants, with LA’s recent additions to the 2024 Michelin Guide making the city a must-visit destination for culinary enthusiasts.
In addition, the Pacific Standard Time (PST) ART: Art & Science Collide exhibit, running through February 2025, brings together over 50 exhibitions across Southern California, exploring the intersection of art and science. From ancient cosmologies to environmental justice, PST ART offers an immersive look into our world.
Getting Around LA: New Transit and Infrastructure
Transportation in LA is evolving with the Automated People Mover (APM) set to launch at LAX in January 2026. This 2.25-mile electric train system will streamline access to terminals and connect with LA’s metro system, enhancing the travel experience for millions of visitors.
Meanwhile, the Metro D Line Subway Extension Project will add seven new stations by 2027, providing a direct, high-speed connection between Downtown and the Westside. These infrastructure upgrades will make exploring LA’s diverse neighborhoods easier than ever.
